FAQ
- What is the appropriation of ZODIAC?
Zodiac is designed for true flying enthiusiasts as an alternative means of transport. It is great for students, flight instructors and experienced pilots alike.
- How much does it cost to build?
The cost of ZODIAC 601(ready to fly) is
about 30 000 EUR, including: test flight, standard equipment and BMW engine. As anyone can see ZODIAC CH -601 has a low purchase price and very good flying qualities that makes it high in demand, since no other airplane can make those claims. If you like tinkering in your sparetime you can consider a kit and doing it by yourself. - The net-price of 100%kit's building is 11 000 EUR.
- Is ZODIAC safe?
The aircraft structure and flying qualities make ZODIAC CH - 601 very easy to fly and it doesn't depend whether the speed is high, or low. This aeroplane is resistant to weather - to turbulence and strong cross - wind - in particular. ZODIAC is very durable and just excellent during training(optional seat parachute).
- What is the cruising speed of ZODIAC?
It depends on the engine and the propeller, but its design cruising speed (Vc)is 160 - 180 km/h.
- What is the rate of climb of ZODIAC?
It depends on engine and propeller's setting; The rate of climb is approximately 5 m/s(two persons and full loading).
- Is it comfortable?
Compared to the other ultralight aeroplanes ZODIAC delivers satisfaction because of its huge cabin(cabin width is over 1100 mm). The position of pilot and passenger is semi - recumbent, a sailplane alike. The stic is situated between the seats. It makes it possible to rest your hand on an armrest, using a map or other instruments and makes this aeroplane easy to control and excellent for training, also. In order to improve flying comfort you can outfit your plane with ventilators or cockpit heating.
- Is ZODIAC easy to fly?
ZODIAC, thanks to its parametres, is just excellent for training. Trainee pilots who fly the ZODIAC say that it is very easy plane to control and approximately 12 hours of flight training is enough to be ready for first solo flight.
- What is the fuel consumption of ZODIAC?
The fuel consumption of ZODIAC CH - 601 is 12 l/h (Vc = 170 km/h), which is equal to 7 l/100 km. It is a good result , compared to a car.
- Is ZODIAC CH -601 an aerobatic aeroplane?
In the UL category you mustn't make acrobatics. However the aircraft structure of ZODIAC theoretically makes it capable to make basic aerobatics(an overload factor is +/- 6 G). (In practice you need new different equipment.)
- What is the maximum flight time and what is the range of ZODIAC?
ZODIAC is equipped with two wing tanks(2*30 l), but you can have an auxiliary fuselage tank(60 l) in option. Assuming that the fuel flow of ZODIAC equipped with BMW engine is approximately 12 l/h(Vc = 170 km/h), the maximum flight time is approximately 10 hours and the range is 1700 km.
- What age is enough to fly ZODIAC?
According to the Polish and Czech regulations when you are sixteen you are old enough to be a pilot(by parent leave).
- What are the advantages of flying?
- fast translocation
- a possibility to see the world from a different view
- experience the freedom of flying when and where you want
- What about repairing in case of a break - down?
Our company makes servicing, running repairs, general overhauling, routine repairs, etc.
- How can you get a pilot certificate?
You must complete a flight training(45 h - theoretical training and 20 h - flying) and pass the flight tests. You can do it i.e. in Poland, or in Czech Republic; Aero- Service has partnered with "Boris Lang Flying School" to create the best flying curriculum.
- Where can you base aeroplanes in Poland and how much is it?
In Poland we have a lot of flying clubs' airdromes and private airdromes. The cost of hangar is 300 - 600 PLN per month - it depends on the airdrome.
- How about the infrastructure of airdromes in Poland?
In Poland we have about 40 flying clubs' airdromes and a lot of private airdromes. The infrastructure of airdromes in our country is getting better.
- What is the operating cost?
The operating cost consists of :
- hangar(approximately 400 PLN)
- insurances: obligatory 1300 PLN annualy, optional 4 % of a value
- fuel: 12 l/h
- other costs connected with technical surveys, base materials(filters, etc.): over 1000 PLN per 100 flight hours
